In April 1979, D.C. Thomson launched a new digest-sized SF title called Starblazer. Obviously designed to cash in on the interest in Star Wars (and perhaps even emulate the success of 2000 A.D.), the title lasted for 281 issues, finally coming to an end in January 1991. Nearly 12 years isn't a bad run for a monthly periodical, so Thomson's would certainly have recouped their investment, plus made a nice profit into the bargain. Renowned comics writer Grant Morrison (before he was famous) was one of many creators who worked on the title before going on to greater things, so he was a bit of a "starblazer" himself.
I saw these 12 images on another site, but I have permission to re-present them here, so enjoy the first dozen covers of this science-fiction title.
