Reg Parlett was an extraordinary gifted cartoonist whose drawings had the knack of looking funny even if nothing particularly funny was actually happening. Expression, posture, attitude, demeanour, his characters just oozed humour. Alan Clark, the editor of Golden Fun fanzine, tried his best to get Reg recognised by "The Palace", but sadly it never happened and Reg went to the great beyond without ever getting a gong from the Queen. Many people who receive O.B.E.s are unworthy, but Reg worked in comics for around 66 years, entertaining successive generations of children (and adults) and would most certainly have been a worthy recipient of such an accolade. Reg died in 1991.
Here are the first three Harry's Haunted House strips from Whizzer And Chips 1-3, published in October 1969. If your "chuckle-muscles" are in need of a workout, these three examples will do the job admirably.
