Ron Embleton was born on 6th October 1930 and died on 13th February 1988 at the age of 57. A short life, but oh what a lot he packed into it, art-wise. Look And Learn, World Of Wonder, Express Weekly, TV Century 21, Ladybird Books, and Penthouse, are just a few of the publications he contributed to in his illustrious career. In 1971 he also contributed to a new comic called Seven, which lasted for 16 issues before being relaunched as Esmeralda incorporating Seven.
Let's take a look at the pages he illustrated for the very first issue of Seven and see just why he was so well respected by fans and professionals alike.
I'm a little unsure about the back page. It's not an obvious Ron Embleton page, but there's a hint of his style in the detailing so I've included it anyway just in case it's by him. If it's not by Ron and you know who the artist is, I'd appreciate you letting me know. I have my doubts, but at least this way you get the front and back covers of this curious comic.
