When Steve Ditko left Marvel in 1966, he wiped the dust from his feet and didn't return until 1979, having worked for Charlton, DC, and small press/independent publishers in the interim. Maybe it's just me, but I never felt that Ditko ever again achieved the dizzying heights he'd attained with Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, and over the years his art had taken on a distinctly caricaturish appearance. Full credit therefore to The House of Ideas for holding the door open for him until he felt able to work for them again. One of the mags he drew was Speedball - The Masked Marvel, which largely followed the Spider-Man template. The fact it lasted for only 10 issues demonstrates that Steve's name on a title was no longer a guaranteed draw, but for old-time fans like me, it was good to catch a fleeting glimpse of that old Ditko magic... even if it was only for a relatively limited period.
Here, for your ogling orbs, are all 10 covers of this late-1980s comic mag.
