THE MIGHTY THOR WEEKLY

I've been a fan of The Mighty Thor  ever since I first read his adventures in Fantastic  in 1967, so I was delighted when he received his own Marvel UK  comic in April 1983.  I think there were only four Jack Kirby  drawn tales before the mag started reprinting John Buscema  ones for a while, and I think they were followed by Rich Buckler  illustrated stories and perhaps even ones by other artists.  With its 20th issue it was joined by The X-Men, whose own weekly title had just come to an end after 17 issues, and the merged periodical limped along until number 39 when the curtains were brought down on the Thunder god's  own British mag for good.

But be ye of stout heart, true believer and do not despair.  Here are the covers of the first 19 issues of Goldilock's  very own wonderful weekly, and in an upcoming post, we'll turn our attention to the remaining 20 issues... see you then!
